Boarding Agent
As a Boarding Agent reporting to our Operations Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of port activities for vessels. Working with our operations and accounts tams, you will be responsible for managing port clearances to coordinating crew changes and spares delivery.
You will also provide timely arrival and departure documentation, maintain open communication with ships and stakeholders, liaise with port and customs authorities and ensure that all records are accurate and up to date. Your role will be essential in supporting the effective handling of all port-related activities.
- Ensure efficient provision of port operations services for vessels.
- Handle port clearances, crew changes, and spares delivery.
- Provide timely arrival and departure documentation.
- Maintain communication with ships, principals, and stakeholders.
- Liaise with port and customs authorities, stevedores, ship suppliers, and cargo interests.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping.
- Build and maintain good relationships with authorities.
- Monitor suppliers to ensure compliance with operational, quality, HSSE and accounting requirements.
- A strong eagerness to learn and adapt within the dynamic shipping industry.
- Effective communication skills to work with ships, principals and various stakeholders.
- A keen attention to detail, particularly in maintaining accurate documentation and records.
- The ability to multitask, stay organised and ensure smooth follow-up on tasks and job files.
- Problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected challenges in a timely and effective manner.
- A proactive and team-oriented attitude, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of operations.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with ships, principals, stakeholders and authorities.
- Accurate documentation and attention to detail in record-keeping.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow up on job files and ship calls.
- Problem-solving skills to handle unexpected issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software.
- Commitment to providing excellent service to clients and maintaining strong relationships.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A relevant certificate related to shipping may be required.
- Previous experience in a similar role is a plus but not essential.
- Hands-on experience in the shipping industry.
